September 23rd, 2009 Many thanks to all who attended the first Welsh National Koi Show, and congratulations to the owners of the prize winners! Photos from the weekend are available in the Gallery Welsh National Open Koi Show 2009 July 29th, 2009 Wales will hold it’s first open koi show in Cardiff on the 19th & 20th September 2009. The show hopes to be innovative with a different format for judging and also being the first show to have all vat’s filtered using the latest technology, each vat will also have bio-security screens fitted and purpose made nets attached when the koi are not being viewed by the public. There are six sizes to enter and these are as follows: Size one 20cm to 30cm Size two 31cm to 40cm Size three 41cm to 50cm Size four 51cm to 60cm Size five 61cm to 70cm Size six 71cm + The Koi will be judged in two categories best in size Go-Sanke and best in size Non-Go-Sanke up to size Five. Size six will have Jumbo, Best tategoi in show, Reserve champion and Grand champion. The Welsh Open will also be awarding prizes as well as trophies for all winners and there is a £1,000 cheque for the Grand Champion. We hope this format makes the show a proper competition and enjoyable for all those taking part. Standing alongside the show will be other vendors selling an array of goods both arts and crafts etc. There will also be food and refreshments available. Membership is due this month so why not pop in and view the new Koi at the same time. Also this years Tategoi tickets go on sale from monday 9th February. for those of you wishing to take part there are a limited number of tickets available for this popular event, so don’t miss out. The judging of last years Koi ( Showa ) will take place on saturday the 7th June and will be judged by Dennis Wordsworth and myself. Sunday 8th June this years Koi (Kohaku ) will be selected and taken away for growing until next season. Also on sunday we will be having a barbeque with the usual refreshments, so if you like a drink find someone else to drive you.
